Despite living near the Colorado Rocky Mountains, I still get awestruck whenever I visit Yellowstone National Park. The scenery along Yellowstone’s northern loop is unbelievable. This image is newly uploaded to my fine art gallery. I hope you will take a look and be as inspired as I was when I was there.

Gorgeous scenery from a turnout on the northern loop of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, USA. While there are many destination locations on YNP, there are even more locations to pull off to the side of the road and just admire the landscape and natural beauty in one of the most famous National Parks in the world. ~ Image by Lincoln Rogers, 2022

Rocky Mountain Scenery Variety

My wife and I went to the mountains recently to check out the last of the fall color. Heading up towards Mt Evans before snow was forecast for the next day, we were able to see some of the last Aspens with brilliant color in the season.

While the Aspen color was gorgeous, they weren’t the only scenes of beauty the Colorado mountains had to offer us. On our way up the mountain, we stopped by this peaceful river scene to admire it and take some photos.

The variety of beauty to be found in the Colorado Rocky Mountains is just amazing. What a blessing from God. May we never take it lightly.

By the way, if you really like that Rocky Mountain forest and stream image, you can find it on my fine art gallery online — https://fineartamerica.com/featured/mountain-river-serenity-lincoln-rogers.html

Yucca Flowers…

Here in semi-arid Colorado, the Yucca plant can be a nuisance. Oh, I see them often for sale on landscape business lots and in lawn and garden stores, but what people seem to want to purchase to plant around their suburban lawns, we will shovel out or mow down because there are too many.

Honestly, they grow out of control, take up space in our pastures that the horses could graze, and their blades are razor sharp. Yep, I have the scars on my arms and legs to prove it.

But then they flower and… well, then everything is forgiven.

Yucca plants flowering in June, 2021. The soft petals coming out in Colorado.

Kind of reminds me of people. There can seem to be too many, they can be bristly, sharp, and painful, and might even be seen as a nuisance.

But then they flower… and everything is forgiven.

Help your family and friends to flower; to blossom and grow where they are planted. Heck, even yourself. You never know… you might be a Yucca in someone else’s eyes.

Happy Flag Day fellow Americans!

Vintage Things…

I love history. I love vintage things. Learning of history and seeing vintage/antique items are a way to keep the past alive and even tangible. An ancestor of mine had a beautiful hat box (do they even make hat boxes anymore?) that was hand crafted about 150 years ago. You will know what I mean by “hand crafted” when you see the images.

Gorgeous. Artistic. Amazing. They don’t make things like they used to.

The side of a hand crafted, vintage hat box that is approximately 150 years old. Such artistry in the horse and carriage design.
The top cover of a hand crafted, vintage hat box that is approximately 150 years old. Again, the horse and carriage design are superb.

While we may not wish to hold on to the past, it is not a bad idea to treasure it. It is not coming back.

God bless and have a great day.

Welcome Spring!

A beautiful Gulf Fritillary butterfly (Agraulis vanillae) rests on a colorful Lantana plant in the sunshine of a warm Texas day.

———————————————————–

This is a good time of year, that is for certain. Especially in regions where winter means snow and freezing temperatures. More sunshine = warmer temps. Things start to green and grow, while birds return and wildlife becomes more active.

The changing of the seasons is an automatic reminder that we can change, as well. The winters of our attitudes and moods don’t need to continue all year long. Let them warm and green and grow, along with the spring.

Have a good day and God bless.

Ask the animals and the earth…

Grand Teton National Park (Wyoming, USA) is located just south of Yellowstone National Park. Within that area encompassing those two national parks is some of the most beautiful scenery and wildlife viewing anywhere on earth.

Some people look at all that natural beauty and think it arrived over time by accident. I can’t do that. Just like it says in the book of Job, chapter 12, the animals, the birds, the fish, the earth… everything… speaks to me of a powerful Creator and intelligent design.

I get that plenty of people don’t agree with that. We all get to choose.

My choice is to step back and appreciate the awesome beauty created by the Lord whom Job was talking about. I encourage everyone to visit that area of the USA. Whether or not you believe in an all-powerful Creator, as I do, the majestic beauty of that area will move you.

God bless.

We all have bad hair days…

Image

http://lincoln-rogers.artistwebsites.com/featured/where-is-my-hairbrush-lincoln-rogers.html

It’s funny, but I know I NEED a haircut (okay… I need ALL of them cut!); I’ve known it for days.  So it was funny when I found myself unconsciously choosing THIS photo to work on today and get into my online gallery.

Really?

Yep.  I think my unconscious saw the hair and expression of this Black Angus yearling and said, THAT’S what I’m trying to TELL you!  So… without further ado, I will post a few quotes I discovered about hair and then I will start dropping hints to my lovely wife (who is my VERY favorite hair stylist with a clientele of one).

“If truth is beauty, how come no one has their hair done in the library?” ~ Lily Tomlin

“When red-haired people are above a certain social grade their hair is auburn.” ~ Mark Twain

“Inflation is when you pay fifteen dollars for the ten-dollar haircut you used to get for five dollars when you had hair.”  ~ Sam Ewing

“A hair in the head is worth two in the brush.” ~ William Hazlitt

Have a great day and don’t let your horse come home without ya!
