God bless you on this remembrance and observance of Good Friday, the day Christians humbly honor the day our savior Jesus Christ sacrificed himself on a cross to be crucified and pay the penalty for the sins of the world. Now all those who have accepted Christ as their savior can say with an honest heart, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” ~ Galatians 2:20 (ESV)

The new quarterback of the NFL’s Denver Broncos echoed that sentiment today:

God bless you and I pray you have a great Resurrection Day celebration on Sunday.

Cowboy Church at the National Western Stock Show

Rodeo competitors, their families, those who work in the industry, etc. have to hit the road to earn a living. With most rodeo competitions being held over the weekends, it can be challenging for Christian involved in the sport to attend a church service. The Fellowship of Christian Cowboys organization helps to fill that void by taking church services to the rodeos. I was able to attend the FCC service on the last Sunday of the 2022 National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO.

Welcome Spring!

A beautiful Gulf Fritillary butterfly (Agraulis vanillae) rests on a colorful Lantana plant in the sunshine of a warm Texas day.

———————————————————–

This is a good time of year, that is for certain. Especially in regions where winter means snow and freezing temperatures. More sunshine = warmer temps. Things start to green and grow, while birds return and wildlife becomes more active.

The changing of the seasons is an automatic reminder that we can change, as well. The winters of our attitudes and moods don’t need to continue all year long. Let them warm and green and grow, along with the spring.

Have a good day and God bless.

Ask the animals and the earth…

Grand Teton National Park (Wyoming, USA) is located just south of Yellowstone National Park. Within that area encompassing those two national parks is some of the most beautiful scenery and wildlife viewing anywhere on earth.

Some people look at all that natural beauty and think it arrived over time by accident. I can’t do that. Just like it says in the book of Job, chapter 12, the animals, the birds, the fish, the earth… everything… speaks to me of a powerful Creator and intelligent design.

I get that plenty of people don’t agree with that. We all get to choose.

My choice is to step back and appreciate the awesome beauty created by the Lord whom Job was talking about. I encourage everyone to visit that area of the USA. Whether or not you believe in an all-powerful Creator, as I do, the majestic beauty of that area will move you.

God bless.

In Honor of a Blizzard…

The meteorologists in Colorado are saying we are going to get hit with a big blizzard tomorrow (Weds March 13). It sounds like it is going to be about a foot of snow and 50+ mph winds. People went nuts at the stores in preparation. I heard customers at a grocery store talking about how “horrible” it was at a nearby big box store due to the mobs of people and their accompanying rudeness.

It’s just snow, right? In Colorado, we’ve seen this all before. It’s not the end of the world. In fact, if you can bend your mind around the concept, the snow is a blessing. We need the moisture and a lot of families will be able to spend time with each other, since businesses and schools have already announced they are closing for the day.

So, in honor of the beautiful white stuff we’ll see blowing through tomorrow…

“Wait… it’s a Monday set aside for ME?”

Yep… it’s Cyber Monday today.  Now, whether that means it’s a Monday strictly set aside for Cyborgs (or maybe just the Borg – does the “collective” even celebrate Christmas?) or if it means it’s the starter’s pistol, so to speak, for everyone to start their online frenzy of shopping, I’ll let you decide.

Me?  It gives me another chance to wish everyone a Merry Christmas in a cowboy kind of way.  So, while you are straining your eyes staring at computer monitors for the best deal EVER or if you are running a diagnostic sub-routine on your implanted cyborg systems, take some time today to relax, breathe and remember to connect with the what this season is really all about.  If I recall right, a crowd of angels shouted it on the very first Christmas.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:14

It’s That Time of Year

Lincoln Rogers’ online Fine Art Gallery

Yep!  It’s officially the holiday time of year.  Thanksgiving just finished up (and I’m still daydreaming about my wife’s amazing caramel pecan pie, but I digress) and now it seems everyone is looking forward to the Christmas season.  From children to families to adults to retail stores, the Christmas season is high on people’s lists, albeit for many different reasons.

Me?  I love this time of year for a number of reasons.  (1) The reason behind it relates to the love of God for the entire world through sending us His only son, Jesus Christ (hence the name, Christmas).  That’s a potent message all by its lonesome.  (2) Most people seem to be a little more willing to smile, more willing to display manners and show a thoughtfulness and charity towards others that isn’t there the rest of the year.  (3) Christmas music starts playing, and it includes all of the above (at least my favorites do!)

The whole shopping thing?  It’s not one of my reasons and I think we can agree that’s gotten just a bit out of hand.  Christmas was never meant to be commercial or material.  It wasn’t meant to bring a business’ ledger into the “black” on “Friday,” nor was it designed to make people think of stuff instead of each other.

Now, I could ask you to buy my artwork for Christmas because it’s that time of year and, well… ‘cuz you should!  But if you decide to buy or not buy, that’s up to you and whether you love it enough to buy it.  I just want to wish you an incredible holiday season that is filled with blessings and love for family and everyone you come in contact with this season.

Have a great day and don’t let your horse come home without ya!
