I always think it is cool to see any images of mine published, whether in magazine articles or online. It is always nice to see my images used well in advertising, too.

This image of world champion breakaway roper Martha Angelone was used by Mahindra and ROXOR Off Road, who is one of her sponsors. I captured this moment at the big NFR Open in Colorado Springs in 2022.

So far, it never gets old!

My article and photos on the championship round of rodeo at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO have been published on The Fence Post’s website, and should be in their upcoming print edition. It was a great, high-energy championship round with good story lines. I hope you enjoy the story and photos — https://www.thefencepost.com/news/roping-riding-and-roughstock/

I’m still working on a few more stories from the NWSS and will post them when they are published!

Thanks for reading and God bless.

One of my favorite rodeos — the Elizabeth Stampede in Elizabeth, CO — won the Mountain States Circuit title (again) for Rodeo of the Year, this time for the designation of Medium Rodeo of the Year.

Well deserved honor for all the good folks who put that rodeo together. Just from my vantage point of covering it for publication year in and year out since 2003, I can tell you it is a labor of love for all involved.

A group photo that includes award winning 2022 Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo board members, committee members, and a host of other volunteers plus royalty and contract personnel show their pride in celebrating the 35th year since the Elizabeth, CO rodeo officially joined the PRCA. The upper photo has them holding up three fingers with each hand, while the lower photo has them holding up five fingers with each hand to signify 35 years of PRCA rodeo. ~ Image by Lincoln Rogers, 2022

Happy 4th of July

Independence Day. 4th of July. The American holiday that celebrates independence, freedom and liberty evokes different passions for people. For me, it always stirs a deep emotional response as I consider all the sacrifices made throughout the USA’s history by people believing their lives were not such a steep price to pay for future generations to live in a country free of tyranny and totalitarianism. We seem to be on the precipice of losing our freedoms to an ever encroaching government in this day and age, but those sacrifices made in the past will be honored by me and my family in the present. God bless you and God save America. And Happy 4th of July!

National Western Stock Show fans and fans of its rodeo love their country and are proud to honor and respect the American flag. The NWSS rodeo crew goes out of its way to create memorable ceremonies like this rendition of the National Anthem with the lights off and the spotlight on before the start of action during the final weekend of the 2022 NWSS.

Three of my photographs from 2022’s 100th Greeley Stampede Rodeo were published to accompany this article written by Bonnie Wheatley in Barrel Racing Magazine. You can click on the link or the image to get to the article. Many thanks to Ms. Wheatley for using my photography. https://barrelracingmagazine.com/personalities/top-barrel-racers/greeley-stampede/

Texas barrel racer Shelley Morgan leaned close in to the third barrel on her way to stopping the timers in 16.39 seconds, which was the fastest time of the June 30th championship round at the 100th Greeley Stampede Rodeo. The time also earned Morgan the 2022 Greeley Stampede buckle with the best time on three head of 49.39 seconds.

Congrats to Shelley Morgan for the 2022 Greeley title!

A new short article of mine (with excellent help from Bonnie Wheatley) has been published on the Barrel Racing Magazine website. Oklahoma barrel racer Paige Jones and 10-year-old Famous Hayday stopped the timers in a fast 16.73-seconds on Sunday afternoon at 2022’s 100th Greeley Stampede rodeo. That time put her more than a half-second ahead of the rest of the field, so far, in the first round of barrel racing. With a degree from Colorado State University’s equine sciences program and working for the American Quarter Quarter Horse Association in her rearview mirror, along with a goal of obtaining a master’s degree on the road ahead of her, 25-year-old Ashley Baller is an accomplished, bilingual, first generation cowgirl from Parker, Colo., who earned the honor of wearing the iconic turquoise Miss Rodeo Colorado crown and representing the state of Colorado for the year 2022. I had the pleasure of talking with her about becoming and being 2022’s Miss Rodeo Colorado during a break in action at the Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo. The Q&A with photos has been published on The Fence Post magazine’s website and will be in the upcoming print edition (Monday June 20). Wow! What a Great Time!

Great rodeo to cover for publication! Fast horses, big action and awesome weather this past weekend in Elizabeth, CO. I am neck deep in working on photos and interviews, but will post items from the recent 2022 Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo when I get a chance. Here is one image I have ready. Experienced Colorado barrel racer Kelly Yates won the barrel racing title in 2022.

Veteran Colorado barrel racer Kelly Yates powered around the first barrel and showed the sold-out Sunday afternoon crowd how it was done as she absolutely blazed through the pattern in a time of 16.08 seconds on her way to picking up the 2022 Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo’s barrel racing title. The Elizabeth Stampede regularly has NFR competitors and former WPRA world champions show up to compete in the award winning rodeo, so a win in Elizabeth comes against stiff competition.

Cowboy Church at the National Western Stock Show

Rodeo competitors, their families, those who work in the industry, etc. have to hit the road to earn a living. With most rodeo competitions being held over the weekends, it can be challenging for Christian involved in the sport to attend a church service. The Fellowship of Christian Cowboys organization helps to fill that void by taking church services to the rodeos. I was able to attend the FCC service on the last Sunday of the 2022 National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO.
